Complete Itinerary: Horseback Ride Through Moray, Maras, and the Salt Mines

  • Hotel Pick-Up and Transfer to the Sacred Valley: The tour begins in the morning with a direct pick-up from your hotel. We will head north into the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, arriving at the Paucarbamba Bridge (2,900 m.a.s.l.), where our team, muleteers, and gentle Criollo horses will be waiting for the journey.
  • Horseback Ride and Ascent to the Altiplano: After a brief introduction and horse assignment, we will cross the scenic Urubamba River. This beautiful horseback ride lasts about 3.5 hours, offering spectacular views of the lush Andean landscape.
  • Visit to the Inca Laboratory of Moray: We will arrive at the archaeological site of Moray, a unique complex famous for its impressive circular agricultural terraces. Here we will take a guided tour to understand how the Incas used these different terrace levels as a biological laboratory for the acclimatization and domestication of various crops.
  • Horseback Ride to Maras and Picnic Lunch: We will continue riding for another hour toward the traditional town of Maras (3,400 m.a.s.l.), an Andean community known for its colonial doorways and a beautiful church over 400 years old. In this peaceful rural setting, we will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by nature.
  • Views of Snow-Capped Mountains and Arrival at the Salt Mines: After lunch, we will ride for another hour toward the Maras Salt Mines (3,000 m.a.s.l.).
