Recommendations

  • It is STRICTLY MANDATORY to carry your original passport or physical ID (DNI). It must be the same document used for the reservation.
  • Please arrive at the train station or pick-up point 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Train companies have strict luggage policies: only a small backpack or hand bag of up to 7 kg (15 lbs) is allowed.
  • Wear comfortable layered clothing (it is cold in the morning/evening, but warm in Machu Picchu at midday).
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes, preferably trekking sneakers or boots.
  • Bring sunscreen, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and mosquito repellent (very important in the high jungle area).
  • Bring water in a reusable bottle or “refill bottle” (single-use plastic bottles are not allowed inside).
  • Respect all rules of the Historic Sanctuary: do not touch structures and do not leave marked trails.

Faqs

We recommend booking at least 1 to 2 months in advance. However, if you plan to travel during the high season (May to September), we suggest booking 3 to 4 months in advance to secure the main circuits and the most convenient train schedules, as availability is limited and sells out quickly

To protect the citadel, the Ministry of Culture prohibits entry with: tripods, drones, selfie sticks, professional filming equipment without authorization, food, disposable plastic bottles, alcoholic beverages, high-heeled or hard-soled shoes (only sneakers allowed), large umbrellas, and baby strollers

No, it is considered an “Easy” difficulty tour. Most of the journey is done in comfortable transportation (bus and train). The only physical effort is the guided walk inside the citadel, which lasts approximately 2.5 hours at a moderate pace with regular stops for photos and explanations

The most essential item is your original ID document (passport or DNI). We also recommend bringing a small backpack with a windbreaker jacket, rain poncho, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, a cap, a camera, water in a reusable bottle, and extra cash (Peruvian soles) for minor expense

No, these additional hikes are not recommended on the 1-day (Full Day) tour. Climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain takes 2 to 3 extra hours, which conflicts with train schedules and leaves very little time to explore the citadel. If you wish to do these hikes, we recommend our 2-day Machu Picchu tour instead
