Rainbow Mountain

The tour begins very early with pickup from your hotel and a three-hour drive to the South Valley, with a stop in Cusipata for breakfast. Then, we'll hike from the starting point, with the option of using a horse for an easier trek, to Rainbow Mountain. After admiring the scenery and taking photos, we'll descend and see llamas and possibly vicuñas. We'll return to Cusipata for a buffet lunch and finally drop you off near the Plaza de Armas in Cusco.

Today you'll enjoy the impressive archaeological sites of Cusco. Whether you choose a morning or afternoon tour, you'll visit the following places: You'll begin by visiting Qorikancha, an ancient Inca temple dedicated to the sun. Here you can appreciate the fusion of Inca and colonial architecture and learn about its religious and cultural significance to the Incas. Next, you'll head to Sacsayhuaman, an impressive Inca fortress located just outside Cusco. You'll marvel at its massive stone walls and stunning architecture. You'll also have panoramic views of the city and its surroundings from this location. The first destination will be the town of Chinchero, where you can visit a traditional weaving workshop and learn about ancestral weaving techniques. You'll also have the opportunity to admire the textiles handcrafted by local artisans. Next, you'll head to the Maras salt mines, an impressive complex of terraced salt pans. Here, you'll learn about the ancient salt extraction techniques and enjoy panoramic views.

Afterward, you'll visit Moray, a unique archaeological site comprised of stepped circular terraces. It is believed that Moray was used as an agricultural laboratory by the Incas, due to its design which creates different microclimates. You'll then continue to the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca sites. Afterward, we'll head to the train station for our journey to Aguas Calientes, the town near Machu Picchu where we'll spend the night.

Machu Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain

Early in the morning, we'll start the day with a delicious breakfast. Then, we'll head to the bus station, where we'll board the transport that will take us to the entrance of Machu Picchu.

Once at Machu Picchu, you'll have a guided tour to explore and learn about the history and culture of this ancient archaeological site. The guide will take you through the main points of interest and provide fascinating information about the Inca civilization.

After the visit to Machu Picchu, you'll have access to Machu Picchu Mountain and free time to explore on your own, hike the trails, and enjoy the panoramic views.

After your time at Machu Picchu, you'll return to Aguas Calientes by bus.

In the afternoon, you'll take the train back to Ollantaytambo, and from there, our staff will transfer you to the city of Cusco in a comfortable vehicle.

Rainbow Mountain

This adventure begins at 4:30 am with a pick-up from your accommodation and a three-hour drive to the southern valley, during which you can relax in our comfortable transport. Along the way, you'll see Andean villages, terraces, fertile valleys, and mountains. Upon arrival in Cusipata, we'll stop for breakfast with a spectacular view.

Afterward, we'll continue to the starting point of our hike. We'll begin by following a stream along a winding path through the mountains, where you'll be amazed by the views of Ausangate Mountain. You'll learn about local life, agriculture, and traditional clothing, with explanations from your guide about the garments. Before starting the hike, you can choose to ride a horse to make your journey easier.

After an hour and a half of hiking, we'll reach Rainbow Mountain. You'll have time to admire the scenery and take photos. Then, we'll descend for two hours back to the starting point, where you might see llamas and, if you're lucky, vicuñas. Finally, we'll return to Cusipata for a well-deserved buffet lunch before heading back to Cusco.

Our tour will end by dropping you off near Cusco's Plaza de Armas at approximately 5:30 pm.
